A colorful and versatile shrub, the Sunshine Ligustrum (Ligustrum sinense 'Sunshine') is patented under the number PP20379 and is sure to liven up any yard. Its striking appearance makes it a favorite among gardeners, who can use it to glam up both formal and casual spaces. The brilliant foliage of the Sunshine Ligustrum is one of its most eye-catching characteristics. Throughout the growth season, the glossy, golden-yellow tone of the leaves stays vibrant. With its breathtaking colors, this plant will be a year-round center point in your garden, casting a warm and welcoming light. This small-leafed evergreen shrub usually grows to be about 3–6 feet tall and has a somewhat broader spread. Due to its moderate size, it can be used as a solo specimen, in a border, or as a hedge in the landscape. If you are a gardener looking for an attractive, low-maintenance plant for your yard, Sunshine Ligustrum is a great pick. This variety adds a little bit of sunshine to your landscape all year round with its brilliant foliage, and adaptability. With regular watering and attention, the Sunshine Ligustrum can become an eye-catching, year-round landscaping feature.

Advice for Planting:

Sunshine Ligustrums need full sun and soil that drains well. Shrubs like this may survive in a variety of soils, but they really shine in soil that is somewhat fertile. For best air circulation and growth, make sure to maintain the appropriate spacing.

Watering:

To aid the plant in developing a robust root system, it is essential to water regularly throughout the first growth season. Once Sunshine Ligustrum has taken root, it can withstand moderate levels of drought. But if you water it frequently during dry seasons, it will grow healthier and keep its color.

Mulching:

To control soil temperature, reduce weeds, and preserve moisture, spread a layer of organic mulch around the shrub's base. Mulching is a great way to make your landscape seem better.

Pruning:

If you want your Sunshine Ligustrum to stay a certain size and shape, you must prune it regularly. Before new growth starts, in the late winter or early spring, is when pruning is done optimally. In addition to shaping the plant, this promotes a denser, more compact shape.

Fertilizing Instructions:

In the early spring, before the growing season begins, fertilize your Sunshine Ligustrum with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer like HI-COTE 360 day control release to supply it with the nutrients it needs. To prevent overgrowth and dull foliage, use fertilizer according to the dosage instructions on the container. Too much fertilizer might have the opposite effect.
