The Select River Birch tree is a chosen cultivar for its outstanding light-colored bark and large glossy green leaves. Exfoliating bark reveals shades on creamy-white to pinkish-tan adding to the already beautiful structure of this tree. Fast growing, this tree will add 2-3 feet of new growth a year and makes an excellent shade tree for birds and other furry friends. Fall color is always anticipated for the tones of orange, red, and yellow leaves that dance along the cooler months until they completely defoliate for winter, that is when the bark reveals itself to winter enthusiast. Super hardy, Select River Birch tree is one of the hardier of the Birches growing as far north as zone 3.
Care
Not much to do here, Select River Birch once planted will do its on thing. Again, fast growing, heat tolerate, and adaptable to wet locations a once-a-year fertilizing is all that is needed. Use our HICOTE 1-9-4-12 360-day slow-release fertilizer for best results.
Uses
Select River Birch is best used in the landscape as a specimen tree or a rain or shade tree for other ornamental plants that need summer protection.
