Loblolly Pine Trees | Pinus taeda ‘Loblolly’

Fast Growing Tree

One the fastest growing pine trees in zones 6-9. On a yearly average of 24” or more this pine can really grow! Our container grown trees are 4-5 foot tall and will reach its full maturity (60 + feet) in less than 28 years. Loblolly has striking dark brown bark and rich 10” long yellow-green needles throughout the whole year. Native from Texas all the way east and north to New Jersey, Loblolly will fill an area well for property separations, natural hedges, and many other uses around the landscape. In just a few short years the Loblolly Pine will give useful amounts of shade, making it a fast-growing tree to desire. As far as humans go, Loblolly Pine is a smart choice, but it also has great benefits for our feathered and furry friends as well. Food and shelter are a key characteristic for this fine tree.

What makes us different?

Our trees are carefully grown with a healthy and strong root system in a container, not bare root or shipped in a bag of shavings, so survivability is almost fool proof. The tree itself has many branches, giving it instant satisfaction out of the box.

Care

Loblolly Pines will grow many soils like acid, clay, loamy, sandy, and well-drained. The Loblolly pine can tolerate some flooding conditions and moderate drought, but thrives best in normal moist conditions. Loblolly thrives in full sun conditions when the tree get more than 6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight a day. Fertilize in early spring with our SR-18-5-10 slow release fertilizer for maximum growth and plant health.

Purchase our Slow Release fertilizer here SR-18-5-10.

This tree transplants easily too, follow our detailed planting guide for proper site preparation and installing the tree at the correct depth.

Companion Plants

There are too many shrubs to mention that go well with pines like Loblolly. Azaleas, hollies, and most other shrubs and perennials do well since the root system of loblolly grow deep-down and not wide restricting other plants to thrive underneath and compete with water.
