Gardeners who plant a gingko will be rewarded with a lifetime of glorious golden yellow autumn color. Gingko are an ancient member of the plant world, having been in existence for at least 100 million years. Their lobed fan-shaped leaves emerge bright green in spring, but later they take on a stunning bright golden hue that is a showstopper in the fall landscape. Choosing a gingko is a long-term decision, as it will become a major element of your garden design. It will grow 30-50 feet tall by 25-35 feet wide, adding about 1-2 feet of growth annually.
A simple green ground cover is all a gingko needs for a plant partner. If you plant Mondo grass or low growing blue rug juniper in a bed surrounding a gingko, you will be in awe of the yellow autumn leaves drifting gently down to mingle with the green ground cover. Beyond that, ginkgo pair beautifully with any conifer. Gingko are easy to grow in sunny, well-drained, evenly moist soil, and they are hardy in zones 3-8. Supplemental watering in hot weather is beneficial.

plant is alive and shipped without damage! we'll see how it grows. update: maybe due to operator error,, but all of the leaves it came with died after planting. I think its still alive but hopefully it can recover from the transplant shock.
