Buttered Popcorn Daylily is a one of a kind perennial with large 6’ bright yellow flowers with a tiny green throat. Flowers are very fragrant as well, sending an aroma throughout the garden. Well branching form, which make for abundant flowering is a bonus for this daylily. To keep its fine attributes going, Buttered Popcorn is a repeat bloomer, so you will have a beautiful second set of flowers from late spring to fall. In South Alabama, we start seeing blooms mid-April and again before first frost. Being a tetraploid daylily, it tends to be a bigger and stronger plant.
In general, daylilies can survive most harsh environments that other plants cannot, including urban pollution, slopes, and poor soil conditions. It is also salt tolerant, making it ideal for coastal regions as well as near city roads and sidewalks that get winter ice protection.
