Red Drift Rose is a beautiful rose that grows 18-24 inches high and 30 inches wide. Its vibrant, frilly, semi-double red blooms grow 1 ½ inches across and are stunning when planted in mass. This beautiful shrub is great for small spaces, containers, or cut arrangements.

Growing in zones 5-9, Red Drift Rose is easy to maintain and is disease resistant. It blooms across several seasons, with a stunning flower display lasting from spring to the beginning of fall. Red Drift Rose is the perfect choice to add a sense of elegance to any garden.

Care

Red Drift Rose may be planted at any time, but for best results, plant in the fall. Dig a hole the same size as the container Red Drift Rose came in and one foot wider. Backfill the soil after planting. The Red Drift Rose prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Fertilize in the spring with a slow-release fertilizer and then again in summer to promote growth.

Add mulch 2-4 inches thick around the base to keep the soil moist and promote root growth. Add mulch as needed. Prune the plant 12 inches tall, trimming back about 1/3 of its total size. Red Drift Rose is a low maintenance rose that does not require spraying for disease or pests. It grows in zones 5-9 and prefers moist but well drained acidic soil.

Uses in the Landscape

Red Drift Rose is a small groundcover plant that is perfect for walkways and borders. It is also a great choice for containers to accent around patios and porches. Pair it with perennials or small shrubs for a rich burst of color, and use fresh flowers in centerpieces and bouquets.

The flowers are a beautiful pairing to brighten evergreens. The Red Drift Rose is also beautiful as a front focal plant in flower beds. With its fruity scent, it attracts butterflies all season long. This low maintenance rose is the perfect choice for any garden.

Companion Plants

Corkscrew Rush Spiralis is a great choice to complement the crimson of the Red Drift Rose. This small grass adds character to the landscape with its whimsical corkscrew spirals. It is deer resistant and will help to protect the drift rose. The charm of this small plant pairs well with the beauty of the Red Drift Rose.

Blue Point Juniper is a tall, thin evergreen that makes a wonderful backdrop for the Red Drift Rose. Using the drift rose as a ground cover will add color to the tree and compliment the bluish green foliage. Both plants have moderate water needs and thrive in well drained acidic soils.

Amazing Daisies with their white blooms create a stark contrast to the vibrant red of the Red Drift Rose. They are a perfect choice to plant in conjunction with Red Drift Rose, especially in mass. They are excellent pollinators and are deer resistant.
