If your trying perennials for the very first time and really don’t know what plant to start with, Proven Winner’s Denim n’ Lace Russian Sage is a great first perennial to grow. This one is our most forgiving and reliable starter perennial to get your green thumbs dirty! Well behaved in the flower beds, it will not overpower other shrubs and annuals. Delicate gray-green foliage is very graceful with an open-mounding, compact form with tiny lacy blue flower spikes that cover the entire plant when blooming. The foliage looks fragile, but holds up though all seasons and is one of the most fragrant of Russian Sages in production.
If you have a poor soil or challenging soil, Denim n’ Lace will give you an expert gardening look, as it takes most soils but prefers well drained organic soils. These cool perennials can be planted as stand-alone specimens, but they look better in borders and hedges in formal or informal landscapes. We suggest planting these in groups of threes and sixes for maximum performance and appeal. Very hardy from zones 4-9.
