Little Henry® Sweetspire | Little Henry® Itea virginica 'Sprich' USPP 10,988

If you could dream up the perfect shrub… having an abundance for beautiful white flowers, a non-holly, good green color, great texture, native plant characteristics, and season ending blast of color it might be a hard task. Well, here you go! Little Henry® Sweetspire is all that and more!

This shrub will blow your mind with all it accomplishes throughout the year. Early spring it clothes itself with delicate green leaves that fill the spaces well in the garden, followed by little bottlebrush white flowers that drape over the whole plant. Then bring on the pollinators, as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds fight over a place at the table. This compact shrub will go through the toughest of summer with very little set backs due to its remarkable drought tolerance. Once fall’s cooler weather comes to visit, Little Henry® Sweetspire catches on fire turning orange and eventually flaming red before dropping all its leaves for winter. Well behaved, Little Henry® Sweetspire grows up to 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide making it a great choice for tight locations in the landscape.

Care

Little Henry® Sweetspire will perform well in full sun and part shade. The longer the exposure to the sun  (6 hours or more) will cause better blooming growth. If you have a area that is a bit boggy and too moist for most shrubs then Little Henry® Sweetspire will give you an option to use. Pruning can be done in the early spring before they leaf out or along the way from spring to summer after blooming. Fertilize in early spring with our SR-18-5-10 slow release fertilizer for maximum growth and plant health.
