Limelight Prime® Hydrangea paniculata 'SMNHPPH' USPP 32,511Can PBRAF

Limelight Prime hydrangea is a new and improved version of the bestselling Limelight. Slightly more compact than its predecessor, Limelight Prime boasts stronger stems, withstanding both wind and rain better and holding its beautiful flowers upright. Its leaves stay a darker shade of green throughout the summer months, and its flowers boast even more vibrant color than the Limelight hydrangea. It begins blooming slightly earlier as well, providing even more time to enjoy is full, long-lasting blooms. It a wonderful hedge or natural fence, or it can even be trained to make a small tree or topiary.

Limelight Prime grows 4 – 6 feet tall and wide. It has broad, notched leaves that are covered in small hairs and are slightly soft to the touch. They are a rich green color throughout the summer and transform to a golden yellow in the fall. This shrub’s beautiful blooms are a grouping of small flowers growing in a cone shape so densely that they seem to form one large flower. These flowers bloom as a vibrant green that fades to a soft, creamy white, and then to a soft pink, and finally to a rich, bold pink in the fall. Unlike some varieties of hydrangea, amending the soil will not affect the color of the blooms. The Limelight Prime hydrangea’s gorgeous blooms add color and life to the garden that lasts most of the year, and its dried blooms are lovely in the winter. The blooms are also a stunning addition to any cut arrangement, whether fresh or dried, and they attract bees and butterflies to the garden.

The Limelight Prime hydrangea is a low maintenance shrub that prefers full sun in cooler climates and partial sun in warmer climates. The blooms grow on new wood, so pruning should be done in early spring to prevent removing flower buds on new growth. It tolerates most soil types but prefers well drained soil, needing moderate watering. It adapts well to a range of temperatures, growing in zones 3 – 8, and it tolerates drought, salt, and air pollution. Limelight Prime is a hardy shrub with sturdy stems and vibrant, showy flowers. It is easy to care for and adds beauty and warmth to any landscape all year.
