Limelight Hydrangea Tree | 'Limelight' Hydrangea paniculata USPP 12,874, Can 2,319

Our Best Selling Blooming Tree for 2024

Hand crafted into an elegant tree, Limelight Hydrangea will complete your bucket list for a perfect specimen in your landscape.

√ Substantial size - 5 gallon container - 3/4" to 1" caliper trunk - well branched head makes this an instant landscape item.

√ Imagine this tree in a year standing 6-8 feet tall loaded with large blooms like a large pom-pom of pale-green flowers.

√ Versatile, Lilmelight Hydrangea can be planted in the ground or containers.

Proven Winners ® Hydrangea ‘Limelight’ is the preeminent panicle hydrangea that gives maximum impact with minimum effort. Growing in a wide range of hardiness zones 3a-9a, they reach their full impact in mid-summer ( June ) after other hydrangea have finished their show. Site in full sun in cooler climates, a little afternoon shade in warmest regions.

Needing well-drained and evenly moist soil, the right amount of sun will yield huge football shaped inflorescences on an imposing 6-8’ tall & wide showstopper. The first glance at the young pale green flowerhead isn’t the whole color story. Fully unfurled in mid-summer, the green yields to white. Then, as the summer eases into fall the color matures to a tea stain mix of muted pinks, creams & greens complementing the bronzing fall landscape.

Care

Blooming on new wood, a simple winter pruning is required. Remove about 1/3 to 1/2 of last year’s growth to control size and set the scene for the upcoming season’s flowers. Use ‘Limelight’ as a screening hedge planted 6-7’ apart. It’s a stunning stand alone specimen, and unsurpassed in fresh or dried cut flower arrangements. Fertilize in early spring with our SR-18-5-10 slow release fertilizer for maximum growth and plant health.
