One cannot help but be captivated by the remarkable characteristic of Spirea Goldmound, which is none other than its resplendent golden-yellow foliage. The foliage consists of petite, oval-shaped leaves that are meticulously positioned, resulting in a lush and aesthetically pleasing canopy. The Spirea Goldmound is a highly versatile and visually appealing shrub that effortlessly adds a touch of elegance to any garden or landscape. Planting Tips:

When planting Spirea Goldmound, choose a well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Ensure the planting hole is as deep as the root ball and twice as wide. Space multiple plants according to their mature width to allow for proper air circulation.

Watering:

Established Spirea Goldmound plants are relatively drought-tolerant, but regular watering is crucial during dry spells, especially in the first year after planting. Water deeply, allowing the soil to dry slightly between watering sessions. Avoid waterlogged conditions, as these can lead to root rot.

Mulching:

Applying a layer of organic mulch around the base of the shrub helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Mulching also contributes to the overall health of the plant by enhancing the soil structure and fertility.

Pruning:

Spirea Goldmound benefits from annual pruning to maintain its shape and encourage vigorous growth. Prune in late winter to early spring before new growth emerges. Remove dead or damaged branches and shape the shrub as desired. This rejuvenation pruning helps keep the plant compact and enhances its overall appearance.

Fertilizing:

In early spring, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer like our HI-COTE 360 day slow release to provide essential nutrients for the growing season. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it can promote lush foliage at the expense of blooms. Follow the recommended application rates on the fertilizer package.
