Double Pink Knockout ® Rose 'Pink Double Knockout' Rosa Radtkopink PPAF

Double Pink Knockout Rose is a dazzling shrub with pink semi-double blooms. It grows in zones 4-9 and is both cold and heat tolerant. It reaches 3-4 feet high and 3-4 feet wide, abounding in 3-inch blooms.  It is non-toxic, low maintenance, and attracts pollinators, making it a great choice for beginning gardeners. It is a very hardy plant and is disease and heat resistant once established.

Each bloom is cupped, has up to 24 petals, and is a bright pink in the spring and summer. The flowers transform into orange rose hips, which are a healthy snack for birds and people alike, if left on the shrub until fall. With its bright pink flowers and classic style, this beautiful shrub is easy to care for and makes the perfect addition to any landscape!

Care

To plant Double Pink Knockout Rose, dig a hole the same depth and slightly larger than the shrub's original container and backfill the soil. If planting multiple knockout roses, space them at least 3 feet apart to give their roots room to grow and spread out. If planting in a container choose a container twice the size of the container it came in. Late winter or early spring is the perfect time to transplant Double Pink Knockout Rose.

Double Pink Knockout prefers neutral, well drained neutral soil and has moderate watering needs. After planting, be sure to water the rose regularly until the plant is established, avoiding overhead watering. Fertilizing is not required; however, to give it a boost, use a balanced slow-release fertilizer and ensure that the soil is moist to avoid burning the roots. If adding fertilizer, wait until after the first blooms appear.  Avoid fertilizing in late summer in order to allow the plant to go dormant. Feed the plant in early spring and again in mid-summer to promote full, healthy growth.

Prune in late winter or early spring, removing up to ⅓ of the plant's size to allow for new growth. Deadheading is not necessary but will offer a cleaner look. To winterize, add 2-3 inches of mulch around the base, being sure not to touch the plant.

Uses in the Landscape

Double Pink Knockout Rose is a compact shrub that is great for small gardens, flowerbeds, and containers. Plant multiple shrubs together to create a spectacular display and make it the focal plant of your garden. A smaller bush, it is a great choice for smaller landscapes or containers.

A great plant for accenting the front of the house, Double Pink Knockout brings an explosion of color to create curb appeal. Averaging 18-24 petals per plant, it will have your garden space flowing with color in no time. It is nontoxic, producing orange and red rose hips that are packed with antioxidants and are wonderful in tea or soups. Double Pink Knockout Rose grows in zones 4-9, is heat and cold hardy, disease resistant, and low maintenance, making it an excellent choice for beginners.
