Muscadine Vine | Vitis rotundafolia | 5 Varieties' Available

The medium-sized, dark-black oval Delicious Muscadine Grape (Vitis rotundafolia 'Delicious') ripens early. This cultivar of Muscadine, released by the University of Florida, ripens approximately two weeks earlier than other Muscadine varieties and yields high yields of flavorful, edible-skinned fruit! Excellent for making wine, juicing, and fresh eating!

Every spring, the vines come alive and produce a profusion of beautiful green foliage and greenish-white flower sprays. Pollinators will visit your vines to take a sip of the nectar! This early-season grape will be ready to harvest in no time, providing you and your family with an abundance of fresh treats, snacks, juice, preserves, and, if you're feeling really fancy, wine!

Although the tasty Muscadine grape is a self-fertile deciduous variety, planting several Muscadine plants close together will boost pollination and consequently yield. Delightful grows to a mature height of 10-15 feet and a width of 6-8 feet. It is hardy in USDA growing zones 7 to 9.

Selections:

'Delicious' is a self-fertile variety with sweet, medium-large bronze fruits. Even ripening and a lack of wetness in the scar are additional features. Delicious is a crop that could benefit from being harvested mechanically.

'Southern Home' berries are about the size of a golf ball, and they taste different from other muscadine grapes. The yield is average to high, and the fruit ripens from August to November. Another great Muscadine that you can can or eat fresh is this one.

'Carlos' have bunches of grapes are perfectly round and a metallic bronze color. They are surrounded by glossy, deep green leaves that look stunning. Excellent for Making Delicious Wine or Juice. There is no better Muscadine grape type for making wine than the Carlos. 90 percent of all the muscadine grapes grown in North Carolina are heavy and of high grade.

'Alachua' is a fast-growing vine that bears fruit and can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 10B. "Alachua" is a strong, self-fertile muscadine variety! Diseases don't bother it much, and it tastes strongly of muscadines. The leaves are different shades of light green, medium green, and dark green. It doesn't mind drought, diseases, mildew, or heat, and it draws wildlife.

'Welder' is a processing cultivar from Florida that can reproduce itself. Vines are strong and produce a lot of fruit. A great range of things. Another great Muscadine that you can can or eat fresh is this one. Welder is thought to be one of the sweetest types grown, which makes them great for eating fresh, making juice, and even making wine! When fully grown, these tasty amber fruits will grow to be 8 to 12 feet tall. They can survive in zones 7 and will ripen in late August or early September, though they may ripen later in northern areas.
